# Accessibility statement
Updated 17 August 2026.
On this page
TUTORS.GG LTD wants families, learners and tutors to be able to use tutors.gg regardless of disability, access need or technology.
Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2, level AA. This is a target, not a claim that every part of the service currently conforms.
Current position
A complete independent accessibility audit has not yet been completed. We therefore do not claim that tutors.gg currently meets WCAG 2.2 AA in full.
Our launch audit records:
- the public and signed-in surfaces tested;
- the audit date and method;
- the browser, device and assistive-technology combinations used;
- every known failure and its practical effect; and
- the planned fix or available workaround.
We will keep that measured position on this page. We will not hide a known barrier behind a general conformance claim.
What we are working toward
People should be able to:
- navigate the service using a keyboard;
- move through content in a sensible order;
- use visible focus indicators;
- zoom and reflow content without losing information or controls;
- understand headings, labels, instructions and error messages;
- use screen readers with meaningful names and status announcements;
- distinguish information without relying on colour alone;
- pause or avoid motion that is not essential;
- use captions, transcripts or an equivalent for time-based media where required; and
- complete important account, lesson and payment tasks without an inaccessible dead end.
We use plain language where the subject allows it. Legal meaning sometimes requires a precise term; when it does, we explain the term.
Parts that may be harder to use
Until the full audit is complete, the service may contain barriers we have not yet identified. Areas with a higher accessibility risk include:
- live lesson video and its third-party controls;
- interactive learning tools and drawing surfaces;
- uploaded documents or images supplied by other people;
- payment and identity steps supplied by third parties;
- automatically generated learning content; and
- older browser or assistive-technology combinations.
This is not a complete list of measured failures. Tell us if any part of the service prevents you from completing what you came to do.
Ask for help or an alternative format
Email accessibility@tutors.gg if you need:
- information in another format;
- help completing a task;
- a reasonable adjustment;
- an accessible alternative to third-party content; or
- an explanation of a known barrier or planned fix.
Tell us:
- the page or task;
- what went wrong;
- the browser, device or assistive technology you were using, if known;
- the format or adjustment that would help; and
- the safest way to contact you.
Do not send passwords, card details or unnecessary information about a learner.
We will acknowledge an accessibility request within two working days and aim to provide the information, adjustment or substantive response within ten working days. If the request is complex, we will explain what we can do now and when the rest will follow.
We do not charge for a reasonable accessible alternative.
Report an accessibility barrier
Email accessibility@tutors.gg. We treat a barrier that blocks a safety, payment, cancellation or essential learning task as urgent.
Our response will:
- confirm our understanding of the barrier;
- provide a workaround or human route where possible;
- record the affected surface and impact;
- explain the fix or decision; and
- tell you when we will update you again.
If the issue concerns immediate danger, call 999. For a safeguarding concern, email safeguarding@tutors.gg.
Third-party content and services
Some parts of tutors.gg depend on another provider, such as video, payment or uploaded document technology. We do not treat that as a reason to ignore a barrier.
We will provide a reasonable alternative where we can, raise the issue with the provider and consider whether the feature remains suitable. We cannot change a third party's software directly, but we remain responsible for responding to the person using our service.
Technical approach
The service is designed to work with current versions of widely used browsers and assistive technologies. We use semantic HTML, keyboard-operable controls, programmatic labels, accessible status messages and responsive layouts as our implementation baseline.
JavaScript is required for signed-in interactive features. Essential legal and contact information should remain available without relying on a complex interaction.
We will add a measured compatibility list after the formal audit. We will not infer compatibility from automated tests alone.
How we test
Our review combines:
- automated accessibility checks;
- keyboard-only use;
- zoom and responsive reflow checks;
- screen-reader review;
- colour, contrast and non-colour cue checks;
- reduced-motion checks; and
- completion of the important family, learner and tutor journeys.
Automated tools can find only some barriers. Manual and assistive-technology testing are required before we make a conformance claim.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with our response, email complaints@tutors.gg and explain the outcome you need. We will acknowledge the complaint within two working days and aim to give a substantive response within ten working days.
You may also contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service for independent advice through the official GOV.UK route. Using our complaint process does not remove any rights available under the Equality Act 2010 or other law.
